Law on margin lending and other capital market rules approved

The new Law (4141/2013) on “Investment tools for assisting economic development, margin lending and other provisions” has been approved by the Greek Parliament on 26 March 2013, containing inter alia, amendments to the margin lending regime, various changes in the Greek takeover and transparency regulations, determination of the sanctions applicable for breaches of the SSR (‘Short Selling Regulation’) and introduction of various new vehicles for investing into the Greek market, containing significant tax and other provisions. The new law came into force upon publication in the Government Gazette on 5 April 2013 (Issue 81/5.4.2013).
