Souriadakis Tsibris successfully defended a major insurance company before the Athens Court of Appeal

Our law firm successfully represented one of the major insurance companies in proceedings before the Athens Court of Appeal in a case involving compensation of an insurance broker. Such broker coordinator («συντονιστής») upon termination of his business collaboration filed a claim requesting indemnity for his customers and attempting an analogous application of Presidential Decree 219/1991 relating to self-employed commercial agents – even though he had received the special compensation provided in Law 1569/1985. The claim was rejected in both degrees as courts resolved that a coordinator of insurance advisors is entitled to special indemnity according to law 1569/1985 for the customers brought to the insurance company and consequently, there is no legislative vacuum which would excuse the application of Presidential Decree 219/1991 by analogy.
