Temporary injunction obtained on behalf of Universal
25/05/2014 Souriadakis Tsibris acted on behalf of Universal Publishing, Ltd member of the Universal Music Group, for the prohibition of the use and exploitation of a series of songs of “ABBA” in a Greek theatrical play.
More specifically, a petition for interim measures was filed against one of the most famous comedy performers in Greece and his production company, while the latter replaced the original English lyrics of a series of songs of “ABBA” with Greek lyrics and presented these adapted songs to the public in connection with a satirical theatrical play regarding the economic crisis of Greece, without the permission of Universal, the sole owner of the economic rights of these songs. The Court of First Instance issued its decision for the temporary prohibition of the use and exploitation of these songs and following this, the parties settled the dispute.
