Landmark Supreme Court decision for investors of a failed investment firm

Our firm, represented by our Partner, Giannis Koumettis, in cooperation with our Northern Greece collaborator Giorgos Palazis, successfully represented 25 investors before the Supreme Court, following which a court decision ended their long-term dispute regarding the requested coverage of the Greek Guarantee Fund because of the failure of “Genesis AEPEY”, a former Greek brokerage firm.

The Supreme Court, inter alia, ruled that investors of a failed investment firm are entitled to Guarantee Fund coverage even if their notice to the liquidation supervisor was filed after the expiry of the relevant deadline, because such a notice is not a pre-requisite to the Guarantee Fund coverage.
